Drafting newspaper advertisement

For our newspaper advert we decided to create an advert which would be shocking and make an impact, so that people would want to watch out documentary  So for our poster we decided to use pictures of three different people and then rub our there faces so that it was just blank, this would mean that the viewer focused on their hair rather than there face and we think that it would be that shocking that it would make the viewer stop and look. Below is the draft of our newspaper advert:

These are the original photos which we took to make our poster, we decided to use two girls in the poster and one man because we think that even thought our documentary is aimed at both genders, it will attract more girls than boys to watch it:

Here are the images which we edited for our photo, to edit the images we used photoshop. We firstly started off by making the face blank, we did this by using the healing tool to select a part of the skin and place it over the top of the whole face, with small quick clicks to get a even look/skin tone. We then used the lasso tool to select just the head and hair of the person. We then changed the colour of the hair, so that it  was more of a 'hair disaster' here are the finished edits below:

Scripting voiceover

In our documentary we decided that we did not want too much of a voice-over as we think that our documentary will explain itself. But there are certain parts in the documentary which we would like to be scripted, below is our script:

'In this documentary we will be looking into hair-disasters that have happened to us all' - This part of the voice-over will be used at the very beginning of our documentary, as it will be over the top of our montage as the introduction. The reason for this is so that the viewer will be clear right from the start what our documentary is going to be about.

'We will take to the public about personal experiences and celebrity hairstyles that have shocked us all' -This is also another part of our voice-over that will be used to explain what is going to happen in our documentary.

'Celebrities have been making an impact on the public hair since we can remember. From Miley Cyrus' shocking short hair to Nicki Minaj's extremely bright dip dye'- this will be used over a montage of archive material clips of different celebrity, this is used to show the impact celebs hairstyles have on the public.

'One of the main influences on society is the celebrity Lady Gaga, ever since her popular 'Just Dance' was released in 2008' We have decided to use this to have a detailed example of a celebrity who has had a massive impact on the public hair styles.

'Over the years hairstyles have changed, but now they are becoming more dramatic because of celebrity influences' We decided to use this as part of the voiceover to show the effect celebs have on the public. But also put reasoning behind the new dramatic hairstyles.

Target Audience Research

As part of our research toward creating our documentary we created questions to ask 30 people to get their opinions on certain questions, below is the questions we asked:

Here are the results after we counted everything up:

Q1:

Q2:

Q3:
The reason we asked this question was so that we could find out if people were interested in the subject that we wanted to base our documentary on. After asking this question we found out that yes, this subject was a good subject to choose as the majority of people asked said yes, their hair is important to them.

Q4:
We decided to ask this question so that we could find out whether people preferred dyed or natural hair, this would also help us when creating our documentary if we want to include a fact about this.

Q5:
We choose to use this question so that when creating our documentary we would be able too, if we wanted to create a fact about this question, we would already have the statics.

Codes and conventions of radio trailers

Voice-over- Sometimes starts with a question this gets the audience to think about the question, it's used to say what the documentary is about. The voice-over is used to speak only a couple of sentences.

Background music- the background music rises and falls in volume depending on the other sound in the radio trailer.  It makes the trailer more interesting and fits the documentary.

Sound bites- these can be sound clips for interviews from the documentary these are relevant to the documentary, highlights(taster) of the documentary  There is also something funny/serious to fit the documentary.
